Chesapeake Division Railroad Book Sale
The Chesapeake Division has received an extraordinary donation of more than 1,000 railroad-related books from Ms. Viki Lackey. The collection belonged to her late husband, Leonard, an avid reader whose books provided a window into the fascinating world of trains, railroad history, and transit.
The entire collection has now been inventoried, and the Chesapeake Division is making these books available for purchase as a fundraiser for the Division. This is a great opportunity to add some interesting railroad titles to your personal library while supporting Division activities.
Most hardbound books are $10 each, with Morning Sun “In Color” books priced at $15 each. Several Pennsylvania Railroad titles and other specialty books have been individually priced. The Pennsy Triumph series is available for $40 per volume or $220 for the complete nine-volume set, subject to availability. Please consult the inventory list for individual titles and prices.
How to Purchase
For the first two months, the sale will be open to Chesapeake Division members. After that period, remaining books will be made available to anyone interested in purchasing from the collection.
Payment is by cash or check only, and books cannot be shipped. Because the collection includes 14 cartons and 16 reusable grocery bags of books, arrangements will be made for local pickup or delivery in manageable quantities.
Division members attending the upcoming Modelers Day In (MDI) on September 26 may preorder books from the inventory. Only preordered books will be brought to the event, so please make your selections in advance. After MDI, arrangements can also be made to meet at a mutually convenient location or to pick up books in Arnold, Maryland, most evenings and on some weekends.
The online inventory will be updated as books are claimed or sold, so check the list regularly for current availability.
