Mid-Eastern Region Convention
This fall, model railroaders from across the Mid-Atlantic and beyond will gather in coastal Virginia for the NMRA Mid-East Region Convention 2026, “Tracks to Tidewater,” taking place October 15–18, 2026, in beautiful Virginia Beach. The annual convention promises four days packed with clinics, layout tours, prototype inspiration, fellowship, and everything that makes NMRA events such a rewarding experience for railroad hobbyists of all interests and skill levels.
The Mid-East Region convention has long been known for bringing together talented modelers, operators, historians, and railroad enthusiasts in an atmosphere centered on learning and sharing the hobby. Attendees can expect an exciting lineup of educational clinics covering a wide variety of topics including scenery, operations, structures, weathering, DCC, prototype modeling, and layout design. Whether you are just getting started in model railroading or have decades of experience, there will be something new to discover.
One of the major highlights of the convention will once again be the layout tours. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour impressive home layouts throughout the region, seeing firsthand the creativity, craftsmanship, and operating ideas that make the hobby so enjoyable. Prototype tours and railroad-related activities are also expected to provide additional opportunities for inspiration and photography.
The convention will also feature opportunities to connect with fellow NMRA members, manufacturers, vendors, and friends from throughout the Mid-East Region. Contest rooms and Achievement Program participation will showcase the outstanding work being accomplished by modelers across the region, while informal conversations in hallways, clinics, and hotel gathering spaces often become just as memorable as the scheduled events themselves.
Hosting the convention in Virginia Beach during October provides a perfect setting for “Tracks to Tidewater.” With pleasant fall weather, an active oceanfront, excellent restaurants, and numerous local attractions, attendees can combine a great model railroad convention with a relaxing coastal getaway. Whether enjoying the beach after clinics or discussing operations over dinner with friends, the atmosphere promises to make this a convention to remember.
As additional information becomes available, attendees can look forward to registration announcements, clinic schedules, layout tour details, and hotel information through Mid-East Region and NMRA communication channels. Be sure to mark your calendar now for October 15–18, 2026, and prepare to head “Tracks to Tidewater” for a fantastic weekend of model railroading in Virginia Beach.
