The 2026 NMRA National Convention, branded the “Scenic City Express,” will take place in Chattanooga from July 27 through August 2, 2026. This marks the first time the national convention will be hosted in Chattanooga, offering attendees a fresh destination rich in railroad history and scenic charm.
A Week Packed with Activities
Attendees can expect a comprehensive program that reflects the full breadth of the hobby. The convention will feature:
- 200+ hours of clinics covering modeling, operations, and prototype knowledge
- Layout tours and operating sessions showcasing some of the region’s best railroads
- Prototype tours and excursions, including opportunities to experience real railroading history
- Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and historical society presentations
- The always-popular “Modeling with the Masters” and Celebration of Models events
A highlight of the week will be the National Train Show, held August 1–2 at the Chattanooga Convention Center, bringing together manufacturers, vendors, and layouts from across the country.
